Nigel Francis Quashie, affectionately referred to as "Nige" to his friends, was born 20 July 1978 in Southwark, London, England, and has represented Scotland at full international level.

Quashie, which coincidently rhymes with carzy (another word for toilet) began his career with Queens Park Rangers, making 58 appearances for the Hoops. From there, he represented Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth, Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United, Birmingham City (Loan), Wolverhampton Wanderers (Loan) and MK Dons (Loan), before coming full circle back to QPR.

During his playing career, Quashie ensured two clubs - Southampton and WBA - were relegated with him in the squad. Yet, Quashie's greatest achievement was during his spell at West Ham United where he went on to make eight apperances for the Hammers, although none on the winning side.

Away from the limelight and paparazzi, Quashie spends most evenings watching reruns of the 2004 friendly international, Scotland vs Trinidad & Tobago, fondly recollecting his accidental 20-yard slice of a goal, which he was attempting to put out for a throw due to an irrepairable facial injury to Darren Fletcher (medically known as "a nasty squint").

Monika Vogts, the estranged wife of former Scotland manager Berti, has disclosed on several times for no real reason that Quashie is speed dial #5 on Berti Vogts' Nokia 5110 mobile phone, which he only uses on match days and to play 'snakes' on. However, sources claim Berti, current manager of the Azerbaijan national team, has assured Quashie that he is number one in his thoughts and the #5 on his Nokia is easier to find when he's fumbling around in his pocket.

Following Berti Vogts appointment as the manager of the Azerbaijan national team, Quashie has begun tracing his family tree in the hope of unearthing a long-lost Azerbaijani grandmother.

Renounded for his wayward shots, chants of 'Quashie...Quashie...Quashie' can stil be heard at Fratton Park whenever an opposing player skies an effort.
